WCPA Award For The Rose Café Patio Cover

The famous Rose Café in Venice California needed a patio cover to replace the dozens of umbrellas’ that have to be put up and taken down and cleaned daily. The solution was this 50 feet by 28 feet by 16 feet high cover with a mesh in permanent place to reduce the heat of the sun, and a solid fabric cover for rain which rolls down over the mesh using a remotely controlled electric motor integral with the roller. The solid cover either locks in place at the lower edge to protect against wind and rain, or stores out of sight under a cover at the top. This combination has increased the usable dining space, reduced the daily setup time and created a space that is usable under all weather conditions.
